The Lovejoy Local Celebrates Bassist of Lovejoy Ash Kabosu’s March Birthday

Well, well, well – if it isn’t our favourite bassist wasn’t born this month.

Ash Kabosu, bassist of Lovejoy, born in March, has spent the last four years in Lovejoy.

Originally introduced to the guitar by family, his love for instrumentation blossomed into an admiration of bands like My Chemical Romance and Linkin Park later on. And while music was a love during his childhood, it took a backseat as Kabosu grew older and fonder of film, leading to him pursue production throughout college (Lovejoy Wiki).

And despite an accomplished career as an animator after university with Disney and Cartoon Network, music still called his name. Kabosu left it the comfort of animation and a steady paycheque, with nothing but his animation skills and bass guitar – for Lovejoy.

Having designed the band’s logo and merchandise – as well as the lesser-known Anvil Cat cards, Kabosu – passion for animation and design has far from burned out. Rather, it blossomed alongside his passion and love for music, finding itself in new forms such as vlogs of the band’s musical journey.

An incredibly complex and talented bassist, Kabosu favours more intense and intricate basslines similar to prog-rock rather than the usual arena-rock-heavy of his inspirations. His ability to adapt techniques throughout different genres and apply them throughout Lovejoy’s discography is truly a talent that shouldn’t be overlooked.

With an album “almost there,” we anxiously await to see what Lovejoy, and Kabosu, get up to next in their journey with music.

As we wish Ash a happy birthday throughout the month of March, we ask you do the same – and celebrate all that he’s been able to achieve in such a short amount of time.

In the meantime, you can keep up with Lovejoy on Instagram, TikTok, their new official Subreddit, their official YouTube, and their vlog YouTube channel.
